Welcome to Babylon 5, Archived

...an eternal work-in-progress.

This is a Babylon 5 fan project set to collect all (yes, literally, all) Babylon 5-related websites created around the time the show was airing. Most are only accessible through Wayback Machine/Internet Archive links, but I'm aware that the Internet Archive's future may be nebulous, so I'm also working on figuring out a way to download the websites themselves from IA, just in case the worst possible outcome happens and we lose all access to that data.

UPDATES!

Purpose

This project was created shortly after the announcement of Babylon 5: The Road Home, and is a response to that film as well as the potential Babylon 5 reimagining (its official status, as of this website's creation, is "on hold", so potential is emphasized here). It was created out of an understanding that a significant amount of web content from the time of Babylon 5's release is now being slowly eaten as much of today's internet is dominated by corporations who see little value in preserving this content. I think that now, with what could maybe be a "renaissance" of the Babylon 5 universe on the way, is a very good time to ensure that this content is not lost forever. I also have personal reasons for beginning this project, but I've written those on my about page to avoid clutter.

This project will, of course, be essentially endless; there were a LOT of websites around at the time! Sadly, the remaining websites on the Internet Archive are likely a much smaller fraction than what was around at the time. So I ask: if anyone has anything they'd like to contribute to the project, you can do so on the SUBMIT page. I really encourage submitting material if you have access to it, because I'm just one person who, despite having a lot of time on his hands and a 10 year long undying love of Babylon 5, can't feasibly work on this project all the time. I'll try, though!
